Intelligent Machines, really?

My main reason to pick up blogging again after a hiatus on my tobedetermined! blog is my recent intrigue with developments in the crossover between neuroscience and computer science. In particular as brought to light by Jeff Hawkins/Numenta and Ray Kurzweil/Google.

For a good introduction to Jeff Hawkins, his thinking and his goals, watch these videos:
-> TED Talk in 2003
-> Conceptual outline at ETech 2007
-> GROK anno April 2012
-> Technical talk at ISCA2012 (June '12)
-> Interview with Jeff Hawkins (Nov '12)

For a good introduction to Ray Kurzweil, especially his recent endeavours, see:
-> How to Create a Mind (Nov '12)
-> Authors@Google (Nov '12)
